Erosion Protection
Stable seabed without spreading

What questions we answer
Is the seabed stable enough for installations and operations? Is there a risk of erosion or spreading of material?
How do we protect cables, pipes, or foundations over time? What do we do if there are contaminated materials in the area?
Erosion protection involves the establishment of rock material, mats, or other protection solutions which prevent washout, displacement, and exposure of pipes, cables, or foundations. In areas with contaminated materials, capping is also used as a controlled measure to isolate the contamination and prevent its spread to the surroundings. Through planning, establishment, and follow-up, we ensure stable conditions over time, while reducing environmental risk and facilitating documented and sustainable use of the area.
The service is relevant where the seabed is exposed to influences that can lead to movement, washout, or spreading of material, for example after the installation of cables and pipes, during the establishment of infrastructure in the sea, or in areas with strong currents and wave action. It is particularly relevant where erosion can lead to the exposure of installations or the spreading of contaminated sediments, and is used both as a preventive measure to ensure stability and as a mitigating measure in areas with documented contamination, where capping helps to reduce risk and meet regulatory requirements.
